ODESSA, TX –
Mia Quintero and
Aracely Araiza both collected run-scoring plate appearances for the University of Texas Permian Basin softball team, but the Falcons would ultimately fall 13-2 in six innings to Texas Woman's University on Saturday afternoon.
UTPB fell behind 1-0 after the top of the first inning, but Quintero stepped to the plate in the bottom half of the frame with two outs and sent the first pitch she saw from TWU's Alyssa LeBlanc into left center to drive in
Keri Sanford to knot the game up at 1-1.
The Falcons would give up an unearned run in the fifth with two outs before the flood gates opened and the Pioneers put the game out of reach and ended it early with eight runs in the sixth inning.
Next up for the Falcons will be a road trip to Oklahoma City to take on Oklahoma Christian in a three-game set beginning on Tuesday with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. CT. Game 2 of the series is tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. CT Tuesday while Game 3 is set for noon CT on Wednesday.
