ODESSA –
Taylen Thurman and
Mia Quintero each blasted solo homeruns in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively, in Game 2 action as the University of Texas Permian Basin softball team dropped a pair of decisions to the Texas Woman's University 3-0 and 16-5.
Trahan took the hard-luck loss in game one throwing all seven innings giving up 11 hits, three runs, two walks and striking out four.
In game two, UTPB was held scoreless until two out in the bottom of the fourth inning when Thurman sent a 2-0 pitch deep to left field for the Falcons' first run of the game.
Aubree Beggs and
Emily Andress answered with back-to-back triples to add a second run in the fourth inning.
Quintero would step to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning and initially fell behind 0-2 with a pair of foul balls before working the count back to 2-2 before blistering a homer of her own.
The sixth inning would see the Falcons add on a pair of runs with both being of the two out variety as Andress hit her second run-scoring triple in as many at bats while driving in
Belicia Urdiales, who pinch ran for Thurman.
A dropped fly ball on a sacrifice fly from
Aracely Araiza allowed Andress to score UTPB's final run before TWU would tack on five in the seventh.

Both teams will return to the UTPB softball field on Saturday at noon to conclude the three-game weekend series as the Falcons look to rebound and take the rubber game of the weekend.
