ODESSA – UT Permian Basin changed the status of Thursday night's game against UT Tyler from a 'must win game' to a 'we won game,' as the Falcons upset the number two team in the conference 67-63.
Alexus Quaadman led the way on offence for the Falcons with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds and a 10 of 12 performance from the free throw line.
Avalon Munoz was not far behind with 17 points, eight rebounds and shot eight of nine from the free throw line.
Holly Hemmeline finished with 12 points with four coming from behind the three point line.
Kamari Portalis just missed double digit points, finishing with nine to go with her five rebounds.
The contest was a tug-a-war the entire game with seven lead changes and seven ties.
Just before the media timeout in the fourth quarter, a three pointer from Hemmeline put the Falcons up 51-49 with 6:18 left in the game.
UTPB hung on to a slim led until the 3:43 mark when a
Kamari Portalis' rebound-put-back extended the advantage to five 58-53. The Falcons did push the led out to seven points late and never looked back, finishing the game with a 67-63 win.
