Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Falcons Battle To The End Vs. Rattlers

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – It was 90 minutes of hustle as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team (4-6-5, 2-4-4 Lone Star Conference) lost 2-1 to St. Mary's (Texas) (8-4-5, 7-3-1 LSC), Saturday afternoon at Sigma Beta Chi Field.

St. Mary's drew first blood scoring at the 25:51 mark.  For the next 40 minutes, UTPB and the Rattlers did a good defensive job at keeping the ball away from their goals.

With 22:06 to go in the game, senior Tatiana Leggiero broke free and blasted the ball past the keeper.  At the 79:02 mark, SMU snuck a goal in to go up 2-1.

With less than 40 seconds to go, the Falcons pushed the ball forward.  Leggiero had a potential goal rob by a great play from the keeper to preserve the win.

UT Permian Basin had seven shots with three on goal, four corner kicks and were called for seven fouls.  Freshman Valeria Delgado finished with five saves.

Leggiero pushed her goal and point totals for the season to five and 15, respectively.  Both marks tie the LSC records set last week by junior Kristel Chaves.

St. Mary's had 23 shots with seven on goal, eight corner kicks and were called for 10 fouls.

UT Permian Basin keeps to the road, Tuesday, Oct. 31 playing Texas A&M International.  The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
