UTPB Leaps Past Kangaroos

MIDLAND, Texas – Freshman Hailey Garcia-Rivas and sophomore Emma Gerhart were triple winner as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's swimming & diving team (3-1) beat Austin College (0-1) 192-66, Saturday afternoon at COM Aquatics.  The Falcons went 1-2 in eight events.
 
Garcia-Rivas won the 200-yard IM (2:26.59) and the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events (1:05.18, 2:25.86).  Gerhart picked up her wins in the 100 and 1650-yard freestyle events (58.32, 18:39.91) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:32.21). 

Double winners were senior Monica Lomeli in the 200 and 500 free events (2:08.14, 5:49.05) and senior Ava Reaume in the 50 free (26.53) and 100 fly (1:05.72).

Additional winners were junior Olivia Blackman in the 200-yard breaststroke sophomore Carleigh Castillo in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.50), junior Kathe Hepfer on the 1-meter board (237.65 points), sophomore Delaney Murphy on the 3-meter board (254.70) and the 400 free relay team of Reaume, Gerhart, Garcia-Rivas and junior Ana Cardenas (3:55.62).

UT Permian Basin will take on Incarnate Word, Friday, Nov. 3.  The meet is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
