UTPB Ties Up Hilltoppers

AUSTIN, Texas – Another program milestone was reached as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team (3-5-5, 1-3-4 Lone Star Conference) tied St. Edward's (4-5-3, 3-4-2 LSC) 2-2, Saturday afternoon at Lewis-Chen Family Field.

This is the first time in program history that the Falcons have gotten a positive result on the road against the Hilltoppers.

At the 23:07 mark, junior Kristel Chaves served up a crossing pass.  Senior Madi Grace Carriello knocked the ball in to make it 1-0, UTPB.

In the second half, St. Edward's scored about eight minutes in to tie it up.  With 15:54 to go, Chaves broke thru the defense and scored to put the Falcons up 2-1.

The Hilltoppers managed to tie it up at the 84:40 mark.  With 55 seconds left, freshman Valeria Delgado made a great diving save to keep SEU from scoring. Junior Andrea Garcia just missed at the 89:26 mark.

UT Permian Basin had 12 shots with seven on goal, five corner kicks and was called for 11 fouls.  Chaves had a goal and an assist for the second straight game.  Delgado finished with seven saves.

St. Edward's had 16 shots with nine on goal, three corner kicks and was called for 12 fouls.

UT Permian Basin returns home, Wednesday, Oct. 25 taking on Eastern New Mexico.  The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
