Park Is Chasing The Leaders

DUNCAN, Ok. – Senior Sangha Park is in the hunt for first place as The University of Texas Permian Basin men's golf team finished Day One at The Hrnciar.  The tournament is being played at Territory Golf Club, a Par-72 with a total yardage of 6,887 yards.

UT Tyler shot 283-271 for a -22 and lead by 15 strokes over #2 Oklahoma Christian.  Rounding out the top five are Dallas Baptist (Receiving Votes) (3rd – 286-288, -2), St. Mary's (Texas) (4th – 286-290, even) and #25 West Texas A&M (5th – 293-284, +1).

UTPB shot 288-291 for +3 and in seventh place.  The Falcons are a shot behind Midwestern State and a shot ahead of Cameron.  Both of those squads are receiving votes.

Individually, Ethan Korock of Mississippi College shot (68-67) for -9 and leads by a stroke over Brecken Franklin of Dallas Baptist.

Park is tied for fourth at -6 (67-71).  His 67 was the low score in the first round.  Park is fourth in bridies (11) and Par 4 Scoring (3.75).

Sophomore Kongpop Kaikaew is tied for 18th at even (72-72).  He has 25 pars and had an Eagle on the Par 5, 514-yard Hole 7 in the first round.

Sophomore Thonsaeng Nunya is tied for 24th at +2 (73-73).  He leads in Par 3 Scoring at 2.75 and has recorded eight birdies.

Sophomore Tanner Wardlaw is tied for 51st at +7 (76-75).  He leads the field with 28 pars.

Junior Will Tate is tied for 61st at +9 (76-77).  He is tied for second with 27 pars.

Competing as individuals are freshman Ioan Rowe and senior Nolan Otto.

Rowe is the top individual tied for 15th at -1 (71-72).  He has carded 24 pars.

Otto is tied for 51st at +7 (77-74).  He is tied for second with 27 pars.

UT Permian Basin closes out The Hrnciar, Tuesday, Oct. 17.
