Falcons And Pioneers Slug It Out

ODESSA, Texas – The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team (3-4-4, 1-2-3 Lone Star Conference) battled tough in a 1-0 loss to Texas Woman's  (10-1-3. 5-1-2 LSC), Sunday afternoon at UTPB Soccer Field.

This is the second straight year that the final score between the Falcons and Pioneers was 1-0.

UTPB came out aggressively with two shots that just missed in the first seven minutes.  At the 14:46 mark, Texas Woman's scored for the 1-0 lead.

With 8:01 left in the first half, junior Andrea Garcia had a goal taken away by a strong play from the keeper.

In the second half, strong defense from the Falcons and Pioneers contributed to just four shots combined.  At the 77:23 mark, senior Tatiana Leggiero had a great shot that was denied by the keeper.

UT Permian Basin had seven shots with two on goal, four corner kicks and was called for 12 fouls.

Texas Woman's had five shots with four on goal, three corner kicks and were called for six fouls.

UT Permian Basin stays home, Wednesday, Oct. 18 taking on Midwestern State.  The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
