Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

UTPB Ties Up Rambelles

SAN ANGELO, Texas – It was 90 minutes of heart and effort as The University of Texas Permian Basin women's soccer team (3-3-4, 1-1-3 Lone Star Conference) battled to a 1-1 tie against Angelo State (4-6-3, 3-2-2 LSC), Wednesday night at ASU Soccer Field.

This is the first time that the Falcons have recorded back-to-back positive results against ASU.  UTPB is off to the best LSC start in program history.  UT Permian Basin is 3-1-3 over the last seven games.

In the first half UTPB and Angelo State put a lot of pressure on the ball which resulted in only six total shots for the first half.

With 20:18 left in the first half, junior Andrea Garcia blasted a shot that was grabbed at the last minute.  At the 41:26 mark, freshman Valeria Delgado made a strong save to keep the game at 0-0 at the break.

With 1:14 gone in the second half, the Rambelles took advantage of a corner kick to score for the 1-0 lead.  Only two minutes later, sophomore Maria Tarrago found the back of the twine to tie it up at 1-1.

Over the last 42 minutes, the Falcons defense did not allow ASU to have a shot on goal.  UT Permian Basin had two strong scoring chances that were stopped by strong plays.

UT Permian Basin returns home, Sunday, Oct. 15 taking on Texas Woman's.  The game is scheduled to start at noon.
