Max Warren continues to dazzle on the offensive end for UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball, scoring a game-high 16 points for the Falcons Thursday night at home. Warren was one of four Falcons to finish in double figures against visitor Western New Mexico.
It was the Falcons out to an early four-point lead with buckets by
Jalen King and
Nathaniel Powell. The Mustangs rebounded from there and eventually took the lead. From there a back-and-forth battle ensued with the sides trading baskets. Warren heated up from the field, with back-to-back baskets including finishing a three-point play to grab a two-point lead. Warren scored once again off an offensive rebound to tie the score at 20.
DaJuan Jones answered a Mustang three with one of his own to keep things tied. The Mustangs created a small lead heading into the half before a Warren layup at the buzzer sent things into the locker room at 46-40.
In the second half,
Azariah Seay's three keyed a 9-0 run to push the Falcons ahead 53-51. The Mustangs responded with a run of their own to take a six-point lead. Back-to-back threes by Jones and
Keyon Craddock tied the score once again at 60. Warren tied the score at 67, but the Mustangs answered with a 12-0 run to pull away for the eventual 87-76 final.
Jones and Seay each had 13 points while Jones added seven rebounds. King chipped in 11 points in the effort.
