Of late
Alexus Quaadman has been on a tear. Since the start of the new year the junior has 10-straight games with at least eight rebounds along and that streak was extended Thursday night with her third straight double-double. She scored a season-high 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds at St. Edward's.
The home side had the early momentum and built an eight-point lead in the first quarter. But the Falcons responded with a 14-0 run to close the quarter, keyed by a pair of
Holly Hemmeline threes. The Hilltoppers clawed their way back in and tied the game but the Falcons responded with a 9-1 run to go back up by eight. The sides traded buckets back-and-forth for the rest of the half, with the Falcons on top 30-25 heading into the locker room.
Quaadman hit a pair of free throws to push the lead to eight before the offense went cold the remainder of the quarter, allowing the Hilltoppers back into the game. The Falcons held the lead early in the fourth, but an extended run by the Hilltoppers put them on top. The Falcons were within one with just over a minute to go, but the home team hit their free throws down the stretch for the 61-55 final.
The Falcons remain on the road Saturday to face St. Mary's on Saturday at 1 PM. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
