Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Tom Perpetua

Warren Carries Offense with Career-High 20 Points

Big man Max Warren was feeling it Thursday at St. Edward's for UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball.  The senior exploded for a career-high 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting off the bench for the Falcons.

The Hilltoppers jumped out to the early lead but the Falcons hung around.  Back-to-back threes from Daniel Moody tied the game before Azariah Seay put the Falcons back on top with a jumper.  The lead wouldn't last long though as the Hilltoppers answered with a strong finish to the half and led 38-30 after 20 minutes of action.

They pushed their lead to double digits just moments into the second half.  The Falcon offense then woke up, scoring the next 10 points to tie the score.  Alvarez Powell got things going with a jumper before Warren connected on one of his own to make it a two-score game.  Keyon Craddock knocked down a three on the ensuing Falcon possession before Moody's three tied the score nearly 30 seconds later.

The game then turned into a tight one, with neither side able to grab momentum.  A Warren free throw put the Falcons back in the lead before the Hilltoppers answered.  On their next possession, Seay gave the Falcon the lead again with a free throw but the home team answered with a three and a lead they wouldn't surrender.  Down the stretch the home side connected on their free throws for the eventual 68-61 final.

Seay finished the night with 12 points and seven rebounds.  Moody had 10 points off the bench, connecting on three three-pointers.

Next up for the Falcons are the St. Mary's Rattlers with tip-off from San Antonio scheduled for 3 PM.  Download the UTPB Atheltics App to follow the team all season long.
