Kaylee Overmyer's second half goal kept the Falcons in it, but UTPB women's soccer fell 2-1 in Thursday morning's conference opener against Lubbock Christian. It was the senior's fifth of the season is the most in a single season for the program since 2015. Coming into the year Overmyer had only found the back of the net twice before missing the 2021 season due to injury.
LCU notched the first goal of the game in 44th minute and went to the half with a 1-0 lead. The Chaps later scored in the 74th minute of the second for a 2-0 advantage.
The Falcons were not short on chances in the first half, totaling seven shots with four on goal.
UTPB's first shot of the second half from Kaylee Overmeyer cut it to 2-1 at 80:15 on a set piece. She later had a chance in the 86th minute but her shot went high and the game eventually ended 2-1 in favor of Lubbock Christian.
Overmeyer led the Falcons with three shots and two on goal for the day.

Tyeliyah Jones each added a shot. Both Ramirez and Terra-Garcia's attempts were on goal.
In the net,
Jenna McEnaney played all 90 minutes with four saves.
