Wanting to gain an edge on the defensive side of the ball this upcoming season, UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball has signed Rodney Carson from the University of New Orleans. Carson comes to UTPB after scoring 376 points for the Privateers.
As a freshman, Carson started 15 games where he averaged 8.1 points per game and finished in double figures eight times, including the final four games of the year. He scored a season high 16 against Northwestern State in their second to last home game. Last season he scored a career high 17 points against Dillard, playing mostly a reserved role. He made a start in the team's season opener against Ole Miss and also saw action against Rice and Texas A&M.
"Rodney is a great athlete who is really good in transition," said Head Coach
Kyle Tolin. "He has a good mid-range game and a knack for getting to the basket. He is an elite defender and someone who we will rely heavily on to guard elite guards in our conference."
