It's been a season of the long ball for UT Permian Basin Baseball, and no one now has more in their career than
Devin Ferrari. The senior, playing in his final weekend as a Falcon, homered for the 16th time in his career to set a new program record. It was his 10th of the season, becoming the fifth player in program history to reach double digit homers for a season.
The Falcons got on the board first on a solo home run by Gabe Melendez in the third. The very next inning
Pedro Astacio drove in a pair with a single. On the very next pitch,
Marcus Johnson launched a three-run home run to bring the team's run total to six. It wasn't enough as they couldn't slow down No. 10 Angelo State in the 12-6 final.
In the fifth inning of game two, Ferrari launched a solo shot to left to set the record. The Falcons added runs in the third and fourth as well as earlier in the fifth but it wasn't enough in the 17-4 final.
The Falcons wrap-up the regular season tomorrow with senior day with festivities prior to the game. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
