The Falcons
  • The Falcons had a dramatic come-from-behind victory yesterday in the series opener.  The Falcons rallied with four runs in the ninth for the 9-8 walk-off win.  Mario Pena's two-run single tied things after the Falcons trailed by three and Michael Clapperton finished things with a bases loaded walk for the win.
  • Devin Ferrari continues to mash, hitting .538 last weekend with three home runs and eight RBI.  The senior currently has a .657 slugging percentage in 102 at bats.  Among players in program history with as many at bats that ranks second in a single season behind Evan Gattis in 2010.
  • Pedro Astacio is also swinging a hot bat of late.  The sophomore raised his season average up to .342 and leads the team with 11 doubles.  Yesterday he went 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and three runs scored.
  • This is one of the most powerful offenses in program history.  This year the team has 41 home runs and is five away from setting the school record.
  • Five of the last six games of the series have featured a team scoring in double figures.  The Falcons look to earn at least their first split in the series since 2015.

The Rattlers
  • The Rattlers are coming off a sweep of Cameron last weekend.
  • They have won one series and split one other this season.
  • St. Mary's currently holds the second worst fielding percentage in the Lone Star Conference at .948.
  • They lead the conference with 96 wild pitches this season.
