The Falcons

• Falcon pitching settled down last weekend and held No. 3 West Texas A&M below their season scoring average in three of the four contests.  In Friday's contest they allowed just four earned runs and struck out 13.
• Yesterday Trever Berg went the distance to earn his first win of the season.  The senior threw 8.0 innings and struck out seven as the Falcons won in extra innings 6-4. 
• Michael Clapperton comes in as the team's hottest hitter.  He's leading the team with a .329 batting average and has hit safely in seven of the last nine games.
• The Falcons are second in the Lone Star Conference with 25 home runs. 
• Devin Ferrari is starting to heat up.  The senior had a two-run home run and four RBI in Friday's game.  Yesterday the senior had three hits, including a home run and a triple, and a pair of RBI.
• Cade Pollard was brilliant in his first start of the season.  He held the Buffs scoreless in five innings of work, allowing just three base runners after the first inning.
• The Falcons have won nine of the last 15 in the series dating back to 2019.  Last time in Portales the Falcons had three consecutive shutout victories.

 
The Greyhounds

• The Hounds come in after only playing two games last weekend at Cameron due to weather. 
• The team won on opening day at St. Edward's 4-3.  Their only other win came against Adams State on February 20. 
• Damian Acosta leads the team in innings on the mound with 17.2 and has one of their two wins.

 
Next week's a busy one for the Falcons with five home games.  They'll take on the University of the Southwest at Momentum Bank Ballpark on Tuesday before hosting Cameron in a four-game set over the weekend.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
