Destini Trahan has been pitching like a true ace of late for UT Permian Basin Softball and she solidified that Saturday with her performance against the number one team in the nation.
The junior struck out four over 5.0 innings and allowed just one earned run against No. 1 UT Tyler, who came into action as the top scoring offense in the Lone Star Conference. The Falcons had their chances in the opening game against reigning LSC Pitcher of the Year Peyton Foster. They had two on in the first and third innings but were unable to push a run across. The Patriots scored a run in the third and pushed another across in the fifth for the 2-0 final in the opening game. In game two the Falcons only managed one hit while the Patriots scored seven runs in the first inning for the eventual 13-0 final.
Cheyenne Marquez had a pair of hits on the afternoon to lead the offense.
The Falcons take on No. 21 Texas A&M - Commerce tomorrow with first pitch of the doubleheader scheduled for noon. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
