Mia Quintero was unstoppable on Friday, blasting three home runs and driving in six as UT Permian Basin Softball opened their five-game weekend in Allen, Texas. Quintero had two homers and five RBI in the second game of the day and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate.
The sophomore provided all the offense in the opening game against the University of Sciences and Arts. She started the scoring in the fourth with a solo shot. The Falcons held the lead late, but an unearned run in the seventh tied the score and in the eighth the Drovers pushed across a run for the 2-1 final.
In game two, Quintero and the Falcons pushed across six runs and had 11 hits against Huston-Tillotson. She hit a two-run shot in the first and followed with another in the fifth. She added an RBI-single in the sixth.
Julia Bumford had the other RBI of the day as she followed Quintero in the fifth with a solo shot of her own. It wasn't enough as the Ram offense scored seven times in the last two innings for the 8-6 final.
Destini Trahan was once again brilliant in the opening game. She threw 8.0 innings, allowed no earned runs, and struck out nine. Coming into the weekend Quintero had three RBI and one extra base hit in her Falcon career.
