The Falcons 
  • The Falcons bring back most of their key offensive weapons back to the diamond in 2022. They will be led by Jay DeSoto and Garret Thornton. DeSoto finished the season with a .357 batting average and hit for the cycle. He also reached base safely in all but one game last season.
  • Thornton hit for a .331 batting average crushing five home runs and drove in 41 runs.
  • On the pitching side Trever Berg returns to the Permian Basin. Berg collected 49 strikeouts last year while throwing 62.2 innings.
  • The Falcons are 21-6 all-time against the Mustangs, winning five of their last six games. The two teams have also appeared on opening day twice before with the Falcons winning them both.
  • In their last seven opening day appearances the Falcons are 5-2, including getting their first ever win against No. 15 West Texas A&M in 2020.
