Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Tom Perpetua

Jones Sets Career Assists Record in Weekend Road Tilt

DaJuan Jones etched his name at the top of the UT Permian Basin Men's Basketball record book for assists on Saturday at Arkansas-Fort Smith.  The senior had five assists, giving himself 235 for his Falcon career and breaking the previous record of 233.

For the game the Falcon offense was led by Keyon Craddock's 18 points along with 13 by Max Warren.

The Lions made an early run after trading baskets.  The Falcons battled back into it with a pair of threes by Jones and Azariah Seay.  Neither side could really grab momentum from there though and the Falcons kept the game within striking distance.  The Falcons kept chipping away and a three-point play by Warren tied things, but the Lions scored just before the half and led 31-29 into the locker room.

A 9-3 run to start the second half pushed the Falcons in front for the first time.  Both sides battled from there and traded the lead eight times in the second half and the Falcons led 60-59 on a three by Craddock.  Despite the back-and-forth battle, the Lions went on a late 7-0 run to create some wiggle room in their eventual 68-63 win.

Jalen King added 10 points while Seay had nine off the bench.

The Falcons hit the road next week as they'll head to Hawaii for a three-game event.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow your favorite Falcon teams all season long.
