Strambler Paces Offense Against Lubbock Christian

Aquincia Strambler led the way with 16 kills, but Lubbock Christian prevailed in a sweep of the Falcons. The senior finished with a double-double, adding 12 digs.

LCU led early on until back-to-back kills by Chandra Reed put the Falcons ahead 11-10. After a UTPB attack error, Aquincia Strambler provided back-to-back kills before a Jenna Gray service ace made it 14-11. The Falcons held the advantage until the Chaps took it back at 17-16. Mayce Barker helped flipped the lead with a kill for a 21-19 score, but LCU finished on a 6-2 run for a 25-23 final in set one.

The Falcons trailed or it was tied until a 4-0 run put them ahead by two. Barker and Strambler added kills to go with a pair of LCU attack errors for a 7-5 advantage. Set two remained tight, seeing each side leading by as many as two before the Chaps used a 4-0 run to go up 19-15. A late 4-0 run on a pair of Strambler aces and a kill by Logan Terrazas got the Falcons within three, but LCU answered with a kill for a 25-21 win in set two.

UTPB opened with the first three of the third set after an attack error and back-to-back kills from Barker. The Falcons continued to hold the advantage until the Chaps tied it at 6-6. Stambler, Gloria Geurin and Terrazas then responded with a kill each for a 9-6 lead. UTPB's largest lead of the day came on a Maya Detwiler ace for a 13-7 score. LCU answered with the next seven to take a 14-13 lead. The Falcons then took back momentum with a 5-1 run. Strambler and Reed finished the response with back-to-back kills for an 18-15 advantage. The Chaps tied it at 19-19 before a Terrazas kill put UTPB ahead again. LCU then scored the next four to take a 23-20 advantage. Geurin cut it to 24-22 late, but an attack error gave the Chaps the sweep in a 25-22 final in set three.
