Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Tom Perpetua

Falcons Record Third Shutout of the Season

UT Permian Basin Men's Soccer's defense came to play Saturday at Oklahoma Christian.  The defense and goalkeeper Kristian Hovind shutout the Eagles, making five saves in the process.

The Falcons had an opportunity just nine minutes into the game but Paulo Villalobos hit the crossbar.  Felipe Almeida had a chance in the last minute of the opening half but his shot was saved.  In the second half Hovind had to make back-to-back saves to keep it scoreless 60 minutes into the match.  The only Falcon shot on goal in the second half came in 72nd minute but Gabriel Navarez's shot was saved in the bottom center of the net.  The last real chance of the night came in the 75th minute for the Eagles but Hovind pushed it aside to preserve an eventually 0-0 tie.

The Falcons are still holding onto a Lone Star Conference playoff spot.  They'll host Midwestern State in the final home game of the 2022 season Wednesday night, looking to secure their place in the postseason.  Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow the team all season long.
