Analise Lucio and
Aquincia Strambler stayed hot on Saturday as UT Permian Basin Volleyball split their final two games of the weekend up in Canyon. Lucio now has 126 assists as she closes in on 2,000 for her career while Strambler increased her kill total to 61 on the young season.
Strambler had another strong game, her third in a row reaching the double digit kills plateau. The Midland native showed her defensive prowess also picking up seven digs in the win.
Taurie Magee also continued to show she's a force in the Lone Star Conference with 10 kills and four blocks. Lucio once again shined with 35 assists.
The Falcons controlled the match over the Skyhawks from the word go. They started the opening set 6-2 and didn't look back. The Falcons followed that with a 6-0 run to pull ahead 12-3. From there Strambler closed the set with six kills for the 25-14 set win.
Set two was much closer but the Falcons jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. The Skyhawks used a 7-0 run to take their first lead of the contest. They pushed the lead over the Falcons to 19-15 but the Falcons answered back with a 6-1 to take a late 21-20 lead. That's all the window the Falcons needed to take set two 25-23.
In game two against Adams State the Falcons went down 9-3 early in set one. The Falcons came back as close to 12-8 but the comeback wasn't enough as they fell 25-16 in set one.
The Falcons got going and kept pace with the Grizzlies in the second set. The Falcons lead as much as 5-4 early but kept a close but comfortable lead most of the way through the set before taking it 25-21.
In the third set the Falcons soared to a 15-5 lead and did not look back as they took it 25-18 to force a fourth.
The fourth set was a tight one throughout. The biggest lead was held by the Falcons at 15-10 but the Grizzles came back and tied it at 19. The back-and-forth battle ended with a 26-24 advantage to the Grizzlies taking the match 3-1.
Strambler lead the Falcons with 17 kills with Magee also reaching double digit kills with 12. Lucio had a team high 27 kills while
Devin Alcoser finished with 10. Doggett recorded 15 digs with
Isela Murillo having 13. Magee and Maycee Barker tied with a team high two blocks each.
