Sarah Sanchez started the season on the right foot for UT Permian Basin Women's Soccer as she found the back of the net in the team's season opener at Colorado Mesa.
 
The Falcons and Mavericks were on an even playing field through the early part of the game. The Mavericks got a couple of fortunate bounces and went into the half up 2-0. The Falcons got things going in the second half as Sarah Sanchez scored the team's lone goal near the end of regulation on a penalty kick. The Mavericks added to their lead in the second half for the 5-1 final.
 
Jenna McEnaney got the start between the pipes and made five saves. Sanchez had two shots on goal, capitalizing on one of them.
