Looking to build off a terrific showing at the New South Intercollegiate Conference Championships in 2021, UT Permian Basin Swim has restocked for
Betsy Graham's second season. Graham highlighted seven men and two women she expects to be immediate contributors to the team this season.
Legend Jankowski, Erik Eikenbary and Michael Knorr are staying local as they all hail from Midland, TX. Jankowski is a two-time All-District and All-Region honoree and he holds the 500 free record at Midland High School. Eikenbary will compete in the individual medley, breaststroke, and in all around events. Transfer Martin Knorr will be joining the Falcons and coming back to the Permian Basin from Oklahoma Baptist. While at OBU he was a sectional qualifier and scored in fly events at conference. He will be participating in fly and individual medley events as a Falcon.
The Falcons have a couple more transfers besides Knorr including Bel Air, MD native Daniel Bednarski and Jordan Weve from Goddard, KS. Bednarski will help the Falcons will help in the backstroke and individual medley events. He was an All-American at Loyola Blakefield High School. He also was an All-MIAA swimmer and a future cut in the 400m individual medley while in high school. Weve was a 2021 JUCO National Finalist at Barton Community College and will add depth in the 100 and 200m fly events.
Aiden Vargas is from Kingsville, TX and will help the Falcons in the 100m breaststroke and the 200m individual medley. He is a four-time All-District selection as well as All-Region and All-State. Niklas Heelein from Germany will help bring power to the distance and middle distance events. He placed second in the 1500m during the German National Championships and placed first in the 200m and 400m freestyle during the Federal State Championships.
On the women's side Avery Joiner and Erin McGuire will join the Falcons. Joiner is a record-holder from the Permian Basin, setting the 50 and 100m free records at Andrews High School as well as the 50m free district record. She is a four-time All-District Selection, All-Region, and State Qualifier. La Porte, IN native McGuire will add depth in the sprint freestyle and breaststroke events. She holds her high school record in the 100m breaststroke.
