April Arellano sits on the doorstep of becoming the seventh player in program history to reach 100 career hits after her double on Friday put her at 99 for her career.
Aracely Araiza had a strong day at the plate with three hits and a pair of RBI, while Alice Marion and
Lani Graft added two hits each.
The Falcon offense started the day slow before coming to life. Held to just a pair of hits through the first four innings the bats started to warm up in the fifth. Marion beat out an infield hit to bring in Graft to get the Falcons on the board for the first time. Trailing 6-1 entering the fifth, the offense erupted to tie the game.
Arellano and
Choco Munoz walked to start the inning before a sacrifice bunt moved them over. They came in to score on
Aracely Araiza's two-run double to left to cut into the deficit.
Mia Quintero singled putting runners on the corners, for Graft who drove in Araiza with a single of her own. Quintero scored herself on an error to make it a one-run ballgame. Later in the inning,
Kortlyn Brown scored on a wild pitch to cap off the rally and tie the game. That's as close as the Falcons would get as the Rattlers answered with two in the bottom of the sixth for the 8-6 final in the opening game.
The Falcon bats were kept quiet in the second game with just Munoz and Araiza reaching on hits, while Quintero and
Nayeli Diaz worked walks.
Sierra Camacho allowed just three earned runs over 3.2 innings in the effort.
