Game Recap: Softball |

Marion Stays Hot at the Plate at #12 WT

Alice Marion continued to produce at the top of the order for UT Permian Basin Softball picking up two hits including a triple Friday night.  The junior now has eight hits in her last 10 games and leads the Falcons in hits with 32 on the season.

The Falcon offense started game one slow but rallied in the fourth.  Trailing 3-0 to No. 12 West Texas A&M it was April Arellano that got things going with a lead-off single.  She advanced to second on a sac bunt, but Aracely Araiza brought her in on a single of her own.  That's as close as they'd get as the Lady Buff offense got going late for the 9-1 final.

Marion provided all the scoring for the Falcons in game two.  With one out in the sixth, Marion tripled to left field and scored on an error for the lone run of the contest.  The Falcons scatter four other hits but it wasn't enough for the 9-1 final.

Araiza and Arellano also had two hits on the day, with one in each game.  In the circle Sierra Camacho allowed just four earned over 5.1 innings of work in the second game.

The Falcons take on Eastern New Mexico on Sunday in Portales with first pitch scheduled for 12 PM CT.  Download the UTPB Athletics App for the latest news on all your favorite Falcon teams.
