It was a busy afternoon for UT Permian Basin goalkeeper
Alfonso Aragon as he stopped 10 shots on Wednesday at UTPB Soccer Field against Midwestern State.
Â
After the Mustangs scored a quick goal the Falcons settled down defensively as they trailed 1-0 at the half. Play got more physical in the second half including eight yellow cards but it was the Mustangs who came away with the 4-0 victory. The Falcons had their opportunities offensively with nine shots but weren't able to convert it to points.
Â
Gustavo Barroso led the Falcons with three shots.
Matias Pereira had two shots while
Chance Arney,
Rodrigo Rogatto, Michael Nweke, and
Brandon Bernal each had a shot.
Â
The Falcons are still in playoff contention as they find themselves among four teams competing for the last spot in the Lone Star Conference playoffs. They will face Lubbock Christian in Lubbock, TX next Tuesday at 7 PM. Download the UTPB Athletics App today to follow the Falcons all season long.
