Falcon Offense Flexes Muscle in Win Over No. 25 UT Tyler

UT Permian Baseball showed off their offensive power Friday as they exploded for nine extra base hits in an upset 15-5 victory over No. 25 UT Tyler.  J Raul Lopez exploded for the Falcons, with a home run, double and five RBI on evening.  The Falcons hit three home runs as a team to hand the Patriots their fist road loss on the season.
 
The Falcons started the scoring in the first inning as Garret Thornton homered to left center bringing in Jay DeSoto for the 2-0 lead. Devin Ferrari kept the inning going with a single up the middle scoring Nick Hernandez to go up three. J Raul Lopez put a stamp on the inning with a three-run home run over the bullpen in Momentum Bank Ballpark to give the Falcons a 6-0 lead after the first inning.  Lopez wasn't done yet. In the second inning he doubled to left center bringing in Ferrari and Colin Fabio for an 8-0 Falcon lead.
 
In the fifth, the Falcons got the offense going again on a DeSoto double down the right field line scoring Pemron Burrows and Cole Dickie for a 10-4 lead. Hernandez hit a three-run homer to straight away center scoring Thornton and DeSoto for a 13-5 lead after five innings of play.  The Falcons were able to close out the game in the eighth inning as Ferrari tripled to right center scoring Thornton. Ferrari later scored on a wild pitch to give the Falcons a 15-5 victory.
 
Hernandez, Fabio, Ferrari, Lopez, and Dickie all had multi-hit games. Lopez led the Falcons with five RBI. Hernandez had three RBI while DeSoto, Thornton, and Ferrari each had two. Thornton and Ferrari scored three runs each while DeSoto, Hernandez, and Fabio each scored twice.
 
Trever Berg got the start on the mound going 6.1 innings striking out seven Patriots while walking none. Clay Thompson relived Berg going 1.2 innings striking out three Patriots while not giving up a hit.
