Alfonso Aragon turned in his best performance of the season Tuesday night, shutting out Oklahoma Christian to move UT Permian Basin Men's Soccer into a tie for second place in the Lone Star Conference with just two games to play. Aragon made five saves in the 1-0 win.
Chances for both sides were scarce early, until
Kasper Wallstroem found the back of the net in the 42
nd minute. Wallstroem took a pass from
Gustavo Barroso up the left side, dribbled by the charging goalkeeper, and buried with his left foot for the 1-0 lead. The Falcons had chances in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net again. They didn't need to as the defense held on for the 1-0 victory.
The goal was Wallstroem's second of the season and the 11
th on the year for the Falcons. The Falcons are now tied for second in the Lone Star Conference with 10 points along with Midwestern State and Texas A&M International with just two games to play.
