Analise Lucio and
Aquincia Strambler continued to stay red-hot Tuesday night against RV West Texas A&M. Lucio recorded 37 assists, her fourth 30-plus assist game of the season and has at least 20 in every game this season except for two. Strambler continues to power the offense with a team-high 14 kills. The junior leads the team with 117 kills and sits fourth in the Lone Star Conference. Lucio moved into second place in the conference with 286 assists.
The UT Permian Basin Volleyball got off to a fast start. The Falcons went up 7-2 off a 5-0 run from the help of three attack errors by the Lady Buffs. They'd answer back with a run of their own to bring it back within one. The Lady Buffs went up as much as four in the first set, but the Falcons battled back and took the set with a pair of extended runs to win 25-22.
In set number two the Falcons took an early lead off a
Stephanie Sanchez kill and later tied it at seven. The teams traded points, but it was the Lady Buffs who eventually pulled away just enough to take the set 25-21.
Set three saw the Falcons jumped to a 4-1 lead early. The Lady Buffs battled back and eventually tied it at 10, but the Falcons went on a 4-1 run to retake the lead on kills by
Marissa Aguilar and Isella Murillo, It was a tight set but a late run by the Lady Buffs gave them the 25-21 set victory.
In set four it was the Lady Buffs who took an early lead and the Falcons clawed their way back in. A kill by Murillo gave the Falcons their first lead of the set. A 4-0 run on kills by Lucio, Murillo, and Sanchez put the Falcons up three, but the Lady Buffs ended the match on a big run to take the set 25-17 and the match 3-1.
Murillo had a strong night on both ends of the floor with 11 kills and 10 digs. Four Falcons had double digit kills with
Daylee Doggett leading with 20, while Lucio added 14 and
Lanai Hurd finished with 10.
