UT Permian Basin Men's Soccer came as close as you can to keeping a clean sheet against defending Lone Star Conference champion St. Mary's Tuesday night. Once again
Alfonso Aragon was dazzling in the net stopping four shots on goal including three in the second half.
The Falcon offense had their best chance late in the first half. A beautiful cross found the foot of
Ollie Grundy for a one-timer that was just denied by the Rattler goalkeeper. For 86 minutes the defense held the top scoring team in the LSC from last season scoreless until a bouncing ball rolled into the net for the first goal of the evening.
Pablo Oloriz had a chance in the final minutes for the equalizer, but his shot sailed just high for the 1-0 final.
Rodrigo Rogatto had a chance in the first half with a shot on goal that was followed with a shot by
Gustavo Barroso that ended wide.
The Falcons return to action this Sunday at 3 in Odessa as they'll host the University of the Southwest in a non-conference match-up. Download the UTPB Athletics App to follow your favorite Falcon teams all season long.
