Becky Berth was dealing on Friday for UT Permian Basin Softball, going the distance against No. 8 UT Tyler. The junior struck out two and allowed only three earned runs against one of the top teams in the country.
In game one it was a stellar defensive display by the Falcons, staying in the game with multiple diving catches. After the Patriots got a run in the first, the Falcons got on the board.
Kortlyn Brown doubled down the left field line, scoring Alice Marion to tie the game at one. Despite Berth's brilliant performance, the Falcons couldn't get more offense going as they fell 4-1. Ashlyn Bradley collected two hits to lead the Falcons.
Abrie Castillo got the call in the circle for the Falcons in game two. She allowed three earned runs over her four innings of work, but the Patriots pulled away in the later innings to take the 11-0 victory.
Choco Munoz doubled in the fifth as the Falcons scattered four hits. Marion, Brown, Ashlyn Bradley each had a single.
