Abrie Castillo threw her best game of the season Monday, allowing just two earned runs over seven strong innings. At the top of the order, Alice Marion had a big afternoon. The junior had three hits and scored twice.
Kortlyn Brown had three hits including a pair of doubles against No. 4 UT Tyler.
UT Permian Basin Softball got their offense going in the sixth inning of game one on a single to right by
April Arellano scoring Marion. That's all the Falcons could get across the plate as they fell to No. 4 UT Tyler 7-1. Brown had her pair of doubles while
Aracely Araiza added another.
In game two, the Falcons got off to a quick start. After the Dustdevils scored one in the first, the Falcons responded with one of their own as
Mia Quintero scored to tie the game at one. The Dustdevils added runs in the fourth and the sixth to retake the lead. In the bottom half of the sixth Arellano drove in Marion once again to cut the deficit to one. The Falcons threatened in the seventh, loading the bases but were unable to push the tying run across.
Castillo threw a complete game, striking out three and only allowing two earned runs.
Leslie Martinez went had two hits with a stolen base.
