The Falcons
  • The Falcons have gotten used to close games already in 2021-22. Seven of their 10 games have been decided by 10 points or less, and three have come down to a one possession difference.
  • Through their first 10 games the Falcons forced 238 turnovers or 23.8 per game, which is at the top of the charts in the Lone Star Conference.  This is the most per game under Head Coach Rae Boothe since the team averaged 21.8 back in 2017-18, her first season in the Permian Basin.
  • On Saturday the Falcons had five scorers reach double digits for the first time since February of 2020 when they did it against Western New Mexico. Holly Hemmeline and Wykoff led the team with 14 points each. Diavian Spencer had 13 while Avalon Munoz and Alexus Quaadman had 11 and 10 points respectfully.
  • Quaadman is tied for third in the Lone Star Conference in offensive rebounds with 29 and is tenth in total rebounds with 62. She also has nine blocked shots, which is tied for tenth in the conference.
  • Munoz is right behind Quaadman in sixth place with 27 offensive rebounds on the year. She is also fourth in assists with 36 and is the leader in steals with 29.
  • Wykoff is fifth in the conference with a .853 free throw percentage.
  • This is the first meeting since 2011 between the teams.  The Falcons have won all three prior matchups.
The Mustangs
  • The Mustangs are coming off a grueling schedule to start the season, playing four teams at the Division II level and Division I Abilene Christian.
  • They last game they played in was Monday against Western New Mexico where they lost 70-54 in Silver City, New Mexico.
  • The Mustangs have struggled at the free throw line as they convert on 63 percent of their opportunities.
  • They have a .292 percentage from shots beyond the arc on the season.
