Taurie Magee had a career night at the right time for UT Permian Basin as they begin a push for the Lone Star Conference playoffs. Magee had 14 kills with no errors, matching her second most kills in a game on the season. It's her third game this season with no errors.
Magee and the Falcons cruised to a first set win over Texas Woman's. They trailed early but a pair of 5-0 runs pushed them to a nine-point lead. The Pioneers cut into the lead but a pair of kills by
Aquincia Strambler iced the first set.
The Falcons dropped the next two closely contested sets before storming back in the fourth. Things went back and forth before a 6-0 run put the Falcons in front. From there the Falcons traded points two for one to force a fifth set.
An early run had the Falcons up in the final set, but the Pioneers were hot late and closed it out in favor of the home team.
Magee hit a season high .609 on the night and was one of three Falcons with double figure kills. Leading the team in kills was Strambler with 15 and behind her was
Mayce Barker's 12.
Analise Lucio finished the night with 30 assists and 10 digs.
Daylee Doggett carried the defense with 23 digs and added six assists.
Isela Murillo had a solid night with eight kills and 14 digs.
Sara Antic also finished with 12 digs.
