UT Permian Basin Swim and Dive continued their impressive start by taking eight events Saturday from Division I Texas Christian University in a dual meet.
Matthew Lenzo dazzled on the boards taking the 1- and 3-meter dives. Erin McGuire continued her domination in the breaststroke with a win in the 100.
Niklas Heelein also continued his strong start to his collegiate career by taking the 500-freestyle.
Racing in exhibitions at the end,
Ana Hernandez won the women's side of the 200 IM while
Legend Jankowski took the men's event.
Reese Delfeld, Jazzy Tscherne,
Ava Reaume, and
Avery Joiner took the 200-freestyle relay while the men's team of
Niklas Heelein,
Armando Flores,
Alex Wickens, and
Trevor Heath took their event.
"It was a very good meet for us," said Head Coach
Betsy Graham. "I asked them to forget this was a Division I opponent. I wanted them to focus on having fun and racing the clock. This is what we did and about 90 percent of the team had better times than two weeks ago! We were really competitive in several races.
In the women's dive,
Kathe Hepfer set a new program record over six dives in both the 1- and 3-meter events. In the 1-meter Hepfer had a score of 212.1 and in the 3-meter posted a 225.6.
"Matthew did a great job winning both boards today," said Head Diving Coach
Jennifer Mangum His improvements from last year really shined through."
