Scouting the Opponent

West Texas A&M heads into tonight 10-3, 3-2 on the year and ranked No. 25 in the country. The Buffs have defeated two top 25 teams earlier in the year. Lately they have been four straight one score matches, including their last two going into double overtime. All but three of the Buffs matches have been decided by one goal during this season. St. Mary's handed the Buffs a loss last Wednesday at home 2-1. On Saturday, the Buffs were able to escape and beat Dallas Baptist 3-2.

Offensively the Buffs are led by Giancarlo Saldana with nine goals while Ben Siri has five assists. Defensively the Buffs are anchored by Tom Miles who has allowed 16 goals while saving 26. He has one shutout in 11 starts.

Series History

This is the 23rd meeting between the two teams with the Buffs having the 0-1-1 advantage in their last two matches. The Falcons and Buffs tied 0-0 in 2019.

Your Falcons

The Falcons are coming off a one match week where they played Dallas Baptist on Wednesday in Odessa. Salvador Vargas Ramos scored on a free kick just outside of the box in the 37th minute. The Falcons led in the shot department 18-12 against the Patriots.

The Falcons are looking to finish their opportunities. They have double digit shots in their last three matches and have forced nine corner kicks. The offense is there for the Falcons if they can execute they can have a chance to beat any team in the Lone Star Conference. With a win the Falcons will be in a tie for fifth place in the conference, one spot away from making the Lone Star Conference Playoffs.

Alfonso Aragon is one save away from 200 saves as a Falcon in his career. He sits third in program history in career saves and is 29 away from being in sole possession of second place, and 43 away from being the all-time saves leader dating back to 2009.

Gustavo Barroso has three goals on the season and Salvador Vargas Ramos has four assists to lead the Falcons offensively. On the defensive side, Aragon leads the team in saves with 59 in 12 matches.
