It took more than 90 minutes to settle a hard-fought match between UT Permian Basin and Texas A&M International, but it was the Falcons who came up clutch in a 2-1 overtime win.
Victor Machado scored the game winner, ripping the ball into the upper 90 for the win.
The Falcons scored first on a goal by
Matias Pereira in the 19
th minute. Pereira deflected the ball to the bottom left corner of the net off a cross from
Felipe Souza who just got the ball from
Salvador Vargas Ramos.
That lead would hold through half time, but the Dustdevils were gaining momentum.
Alfonso Aragon made a beautiful save with five minutes to go in regulation to keep the Falcons ahead. In the 88
th minute the Dustdevils got the goal with a lot of traffic in front of the net tying the match and sending it into extra time.
Victor Machado made a perfect shot on the top right corner of the net to give the Falcons the 2-1 victory and get his first goal of the season.
Gustavo Barroso led the Falcons in shots with five on the night.
Matias Pereira had three shots with two of them being on goal. Defensively
Alfonso Aragon made two saves on the night.
