UT Permian Basin Football is primed to have an elite offensive line in 2020. They added a major piece with the signing of Desmond Bland, the No. 1 ranked JUCO guard in the country. Bland joins a unit that was the catalyst for the most prolific rushing attack in school history while allowing the fewest sacks in a single season last year.
The two-time NJCAA All-American isn't the only highly touted prospect on the offensive line, joining a group that features three other ranked recruits. Bland received a 4-star ranking from Rivals.com and 3-star rankings from 247 Sports and ESPN.com. He joins 3-star prospects
Pesi Savea and
Matt Groeschel, and 2-star prospect
Dawson Reynolds.
"It's a great day for Falcon Football," said Head Coach
Justin Carrigan. "Football is won in the trenches and we got one of the best prospects in the country." .
Bland comes from Arizona Western where he anchored an offensive line that went to the NJCAA National Championship his first year and featured the fourth-ranked rushing attack in the country. The Flossmoor, Illinois native had offers from multiple Power-5 schools.
