Four Falcons scored in double figures, including a team-high 18 from
Pat Dembley but it wasn't enough as the Falcons fell to #3 West Texas A&M 111-78.
Both offenses were humming early, trading baskets back and forth in the opening minutes. Dembley sank a pair of free throws and
Carson Newsome followed with a pair of his own to open a four-point Falcon (14-10, 7-8) lead, the largest of the game at that point. The Buffs (21-1, 12-1) answered with a 17-2 run, taking an 11-point lead. The teams traded baskets throughout the rest of the half and the Falcons went into the half down 14. The Buffs pulled away down in the second half as the Falcons struggled from long range.
Dembley had 18 on 6-of-13 shooting.
Carson Newsome had 13 off the bench and
Elvin Rodriguez had 12 off the bench on 5-of-7 shooting.
Miles Washington finished with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Adam Rivera had seven points and eight boards off the bench.
The Falcons are back in action next week as they welcome Oklahoma Christian and UAFS at home.
