Newcomer
Torren Brozovich followed yesterdays terrific performance with another extra base hit in a 1-for-3 effort this afternoon against #15 West Texas A&M. The junior added a double after having a pair of triples and three RBI in the Falcons season opening victory over the Buffs. The rest of the Falcon offense couldn't get going against Lone Star Conference Preseason Pitcher of the Year Zach Dixon as the Falcons (1-1) fell to the Buffs (1-1) 10-0.
Falcon starter
Nick Bartley worked in and out of trouble in the second inning. The senior had first and second with no one out and escaped damage with a pair of strike outs. The Buffs struck first with an RBI-single in the third before adding two more in the fourth. The Falcons had their best opportunity of the afternoon in the sixth.
Pemron Burrows worked a one-out walk before moving to third on the Brozovich double. The Falcons couldn't get a run across as a strike out and ground out ended the threat. The Buffs added insurance runs, scoring in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.
The Falcons sprinkled three hits across the afternoon, with Jay Desoto and
Jonathan Bermudez also picking up hits. Bartley struck out five in 3.1 innings as the Falcon pitching staff combined to fan 11.
Paul McRae,
Spencer Cofer and
Braeden Gould each struck out two a piece.
These teams wrap-up their three-game season opening series tomorrow at 1 p.m. before the Falcons hit the road next weekend to face off with Tarleton State.
