Pat Dembley stayed hot scoring a game-high 28 points at Lubbock Christian Saturday. It wasn't enough in a back and forth affair as the Falcons came up just short 72-67.
Both teams opened up shooting from deep as the Falcons (11-5, 4-3) knocked down their first two and the Chaps (8-4, 5-2) hit their six baskets from long range. The Chaps pushed the lead to 13 before
Malik Anderson sparked a Falcon run with a pair of threes and Dembley hit another three to cut the deficit to two. Both teams traded baskets over the final four minutes and went into the half with the Falcons trailing by three.
The teams started the second half much of the same, trading baskets for the first six minutes of the half. Back to back Chap baskets pushed their lead to nine before a Falcon run capped by an
Adam Rivera three got it back to a two-point game. The Chaps responded with a run to make it an 11-point game but the Falcons went on a run to make it once again a four-point game with under three minutes to play. That was as close as they'd get down the stretch as they went cold from the field.
Dembley also had seven rebounds to go along with his 28 points. The senior went 11-of-13 from the free throw line.
Adam Rivera also finished in double figures scoring 10 points to go with eight rebounds. The Falcons out rebounded the Chaps 35 to 29.
The Falcons are back home Thursday as they take on West Texas A&M before facing Eastern New Mexico on Saturday.
