UT Permian Basin Volleyball wrapped up its first weekend of action a perfect 4-0, defeating Fort Lewis 25-22, 25-21, 25-17 Sunday afternoon at the UTPB Gym.
The Falcons took over in the first set when they scored eight of nine points to go ahead 21-16 in the game. UTPB closed it out on a block by Travanna Matthews and a kill three points later by
Isela Murillo. The Falcons controlled the action in the first, hitting .268 while holding Fort Lewis to .054 on the attack.Â
The Falcons held the hitting advantage the rest of the match, hitting .255 and .265 as a team in the second and third sets while keeping the Skyhawks at .086 and .059.
Stephanie Sanchez continued her strong opening weekend, leading the Falcons with 11 kills while hitting an impressive .429 on the day.
Aquincia Strambler added 10 kills, committing just two errors as the sophomore hit .320 in the straight set win.
Newcomer
Isela Murillo had nine kills and nine digs for UTPB.
Sarah Vasquez had 17 digs on the day to lead UTPB, and
Analise Lucio had a team-best 24 assists.
The Falcons are back in action next week, traveling to Lubbock, Texas, where they will take on Dixie State Thursday night.
