Kessie Stocker scored her first goal of the season, but it wasn't enough as UT Permian Basin fell 2-1 Sunday to Texas A&M International in Laredo. The Falcons (0-2) played short-handed for much of the game after a red card in the 10
th minute limited them to just 10 players.
The Dustdevils (1-0) got things going quick, scoring 87 seconds into the game. The Falcon offense settled in firing on the net four times to end the half down a goal, despite being down a player.
A foul early in the second half gave the Dustdevils a chance but the Falcon defense stood firm forcing a breakaway chance for the offense. Stocker dribbled up the field before crossing over near the 18 before centering the ball. Using her left foot, she fired it passed the goalkeeper into the bottom right corner of the net to tie the score at one.
A set piece after a foul gave the Dustdevils a chance to score which they did to retake the lead at 2-1, which would be the final score.
"Our back line was organized and kept catching them offsides," said Head Coach
Lindsey Garcia. "We're excited to see them at home during conference play."
