Kaylee Overmyer scored her first goal of the season as UT Permian Basin fell to Texas A&M – Commerce 6-1.
The Lions (4-2-1, 1-1) opened the scoring in just the third minute of the contest. The Falcon (0-5, 0-2) fought back with
Kiara Pennycooke and
Ellie Putnam firing shots, but they couldn't connect. The Lions would score again but the Falcon defense would hold them there until the half.
Kalia Beckwith had a chance early in the second half to make it a one goal game but missed just high. The Lions countered scoring twice within a few minutes to pull ahead 4-0. In the 72
nd minute, Overmyer connected on her score from Putnam to cut the deficit to 4-1, but that was as close as the Falcons would get.
Marlise Bond had nine saves in goal for the Falcons. Beckwith had a pair of shots on the afternoon as did Pennycooke. The Falcons had seven shots as a team.
Gipsey Gonzalez also added a shot on goal.
The Falcons return home to take on Dallas Baptist on Thursday before a Saturday showdown with Texas Woman's.
