UT Permian Basin gave No. 9 Eastern New Mexico everything they had in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons fell 5-2 in Portales.
 
Sergio Gonzalez registered the first shot of the afternoon just 90 seconds into the contest but missed high.  Both defenses settled in for the next 10 minutes before the Greyhounds (7-1-1) scored first.  The Falcons (2-5) answered a few minutes later when Joel Hope found the back of the net off a free kick to tie the game.  Both offenses continued to score as the Greyhounds answered right back to retake the lead. 
 
Not to be outdone, the Falcons scored again in the 33^rd minute.  Salvador Vargas Ramos tied the game from just inside the 18 with his right foot.  The tie didn't last long as the Greyhounds scored on a counterattack to go ahead 3-2 heading into the half.  The Falcons had their chances in the second half but couldn't convert as the Greyhounds added to their lead.
 
Kasper Wallstroem and Marvin Tapia were credited with an assist on the Vargas Ramos goal.  As a team the Falcons had nine shots with five of them on goal.
 
The Falcons return home to take on Oklahoma Christian on Thursday before a Saturday showdown with Midwestern State.
