Bond Makes Seven Saves in LSC Opener

The Falcons opened Lone Star Conference play Thursday night with a 3-0 defeat by UT Tyler.  Freshman Marlise Bond made seven saves in the effort for the Falcons (0-4, 0-1).

The Falcon offense came out ready to score but were called for offsides four times in the first 10 minutes.  Ayla Sessink had a chance on goal as did Kalia Beckwith but were saved each time.  Both defenses dug their heels in, not allowing either offense to get going until the Patriots (3-2, 1-0) scored in the 42nd minute and took the lead into the half.

The second half began similarly to the first with the Falcons getting called for three offsides within seven minutes.  The Patriots added to their lead scoring again to go up 2-0 early in the second half.  The Falcons continued to fight with Beckwith firing on goal once again and Lauren Marenco and Ariel Roybal missing just wide.  A late goal by the Patriots in the 86th minute extended their lead to 3-0 which ended as the final.

Bond ended the night with seven saves giving her 22 on the season.  Beckwith and Marenco each had multiple shots.

The Falcons continue Lone Star Conference play on Saturday as the Falcons take on Texas A&M - Commerce.  The action will begin at 1 p.m.
