The UT Permian Basin defense held their own, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons fell 2-0 to California State Monterey Bay to open a three-game west coast trip.
The Falcon (1-1) offense got off to a slow start, not registering a shot but being called for four offsides in the first 23 minutes. The Falcons only got off one shot in the first half, while goalkeeper
Alfonso Aragon stopped both shots on goal from the Otters (3-0).
The Otters finally broke through in the 63
rd minute, scoring and taking a 1-0 lead. Both defenses held firm not allowing either offense to get into a flow. Any chance of a Falcon comeback would end when the Otters scored with just over a minute remaining for the 2-0 final.
Aragon finished the night with five saves while
Kasper Wallstroem and
John Karlsen registered shots on goal for the Falcons. The Falcons continue their west coast swing Sunday against California State East Bay with a 3 p.m. start time.
